Playground at the Les Escalpades Festival 2025

Playground au Festival Les Escalpades à Witry-lès-Reims
Every year at the end of June, for one week, the LES ESCALPADES festival livens up the start of the summer holidays with free street performances open to all. On the programme: circus, theatre, comedy and music. Village squares, parks and public spaces become meeting places for artists, elected representatives and local residents.
Over the past fifteen years, this event has become a household name. Highly-anticipated by local residents, it has attracted almost 50,000 spectators since its inception, and attendance has remained steady. It has also attracted numerous private and institutional partners and stimulated enthusiastic support.
A unique project in the region, Les Escalpades aims to continue becoming a major festival of street performances, based on the formula that has made it such a success: One evening, one show, one town.
The Collectif Primavez will be presenting its show Playground Festival Les Escalpades in Witry-lès-Reims on 23 June at 7pm.

Do you want to know more about Playground?
Playground is a comic and absurd proposal that rises up to 8 metres high, fusing Chinese pole, dance, theatre, acrobatics and humour. A tragicomedy full of surprises and unexpected twists and turns. This is Miguel Rubio’s challenge: his scenography comes to life thanks to those who decide to support it. Eight chairs form part of the structure, and the audience that occupies these seats becomes a fundamental pillar. Without them, the show would not stay afloat.
In an attempt to stay balanced on the Chinese pole, Miguel Rubio faces unpredictable situations. To overcome them, he needs the physical and emotional help of the audience, who become essential accomplices in the show. Playground is a solo show, warm and full of character, based on a collaborative anchoring system. Here, the connection between artist and audience is the key: without their support, the magic doesn’t happen.
