Relationship with the public and the space
Do the artists depend on their audience? Yes, this is a reality. Without viewers there are not shows and vice versa. But… can they also depend physically? This is the challenge of Nely Carrasco and Miguel Rubio. His staging depends on the people who decide to support it, with his gaze and his physical body, seated about 16 chairs that are part of the scenery.
Those who choose to be my support, will feel that really depend on them to keep the mounting afloat. Acrobats occupying a particular space where they find the vertical (pole) and the horizontal (floor). In their work, Nely Carrasco and Miguel Rubio seek to mix these two spaces, they look for the fluency in gestures to have the same movement and quality on the ground and in the air.

Who is the artist Nely Carrasco?
Trained at the Theater School of the Universidad de Playa Ancha, Chile, she began her theatrical career in 2004 in Talca as part of the Walymai Theater Company, where she worked until 2008. During her studies, she assisted in the Movement course. In 2014, she was invited to perform in Querencia, directed by Giulio Ferreto.
In 2016, she co-created and directed La Campanazo Collective, developing her first play inspired by Gabriela Mistral’s childhood. She also participated in major projects at the Teatro Regional del Maule, such as Ensayos sobre una familia de provincia (2016) by Luis Barrales and Madre (2017) by Trinidad González, directed by Marcos Guzmán. That same year, she founded La Noche y Tú, a company dedicated to performance and site-specific theater.
Since 2019, she has worked as a Teaching Artist in schools and universities. In 2021, she joined Collectif Primavez for the show Laisse-moi.
Who is the artist Miguel Rubio?
Miguel started learning juggling on his own in 2005. In 2009, he expanded his training with courses in physical theater, clowning, and magic before joining the Carampa Circus School in Madrid, specializing in trapeze and acrobatic lifts.
In 2005, he premiered his solo show Into the Fire, which won an award at the Málaga Street Arts Festival in 2009 and led him to tour across five continents. In 2015, he completed his training at CRAC de Lomme-Lille, specializing in Chinese pole duos, and joined Gilles Defacque’s company, where he collaborated for six years. That same year, he founded Collectif Primavez.
Since its creation, Primavez has presented multiple shows, including Cabaret Primavez (2015), the Chinese pole duo Laisse-moi (2017), and the solo performance Playground (2019), awarded at festivals such as Gentse Feesten (2018), Les Tailleurs (2019), Festival Mimos (2022), and Amplion Festival (2022).
How do the artists interact with the audience, and how does this affect the development of the show?
This interactive show aligns perfectly with Collectif Primavez’s core values: breaking down the sacredness of the stage space, making it accessible, and helping the audience understand that without them, Art is nothing. Ultimately, the goal is to create participatory performances filled with emotion.
Around twenty spectators have the opportunity to step onto the stage, take part in the performance, blend into the scene, hear the dancers’ breath, and feel their energy up close.
More than just observers, the audience becomes an integral part of the scenography, occupying sixteen chairs that physically and symbolically support the artists.
Nely Carrasco and Miguel Rubio deliver an Acrobatic Duo on Double Chinese Pole, pushing the limits of the body to the extreme. They explore friction and disagreement through movement and emotional dialogue.
